The snow on the mountain is compacted and crusty and skiing is, people quietly confess, not very much fun. We refer to it as exercise. On the chairlift locals remind each other that this happens every year; we have just such a long dry spell every year – but the March Miracle happens every year, too! The skiing is always amazing in spring! Just hold on.

And spring is coming! In the meantime, the snowshoeing around here is terrific. A bit slippy, but you can go anywhere.
