Forty one
Not too long before my forty-first birthday I spent the night with my sister-in-law, who has mirrors all over her apartment. As I have no full-length mirrors in my house, I was suprised by what I saw. My body is getting old. It's been worn by time -- the way any physical object will get worn. Forty one is just a number, as they say, but it's also a specific point in the lifetime of an American human female. "Forty one" does have meaning.
I'm just not sure what that is.
I want one of those developmental milestone charts for forty-somethings. Wouldn't that be great? I'd like a little guidebook, a little advice-book, to this decade.
Continued snowboarding but with increasing fragility. Abstain from the terrain park. Practice yoga 3x/week for maintenance of physical flexibility and development of inner peace. You'll need it.

My husband took this pic as we were waiting for my son's last run of the year. Cracks me up. I call it "Among the Debris." (That's me in the middle.)
