My sister has a burst appendix. She's been in the hospital since Friday. She hasn't slept since Thursday. Her pain medication makes her hallucinate. My poor, poor sister! I am so tempted to jump on a plane and fly to Pennsylvania. I wonder if my kids' company would make her feel better or worse. (Probably both.)
Here's a joke for her, told to me by my 8-year-old.
Why did the chicken cross the road?
To get to the other side.
Why did the turkey cross the road?
It was the chicken's day off.
Why did the elephant cross the road?
To avoid answering all these questions!

Poor thing.
A skeleton walks into a bar and says "I'll have a beer and a mop."
Ouch. I hope she's feeling better very soon.
Magpie, that's great. Hee.
You know what they say - laughter is the best medicine, unless you are recovering from abdominal surgery!
My husband says that when he was recovering from appendicitis his friends visited him in the hospital (he was a kid) and tried to make him laugh.
Here's one that she may or may not find funny, under the circumstances ...
Why didn't the skeleton cross the road?
Because he didn't have the guts.
Hope she's feeling better soon. It took about 3 days for my daughter to turn the corner after her appendectomy. And now they're both in that exclusive club of "people whose appendix burst before it could be removed."
Oh, poor her! Hope she is better soon--there's nothing like jokes from an 8-year-old to cheer you up!
